A benchmark for estimating the permeability

• of a low permeability material
• by different research teams
• using different techniques

The idea of this benchmark came from a workshop on "The challenge of studying low permeability materials - laboratory, in situ and numerical methods" organized by Christian David and Jérôme Wassermann at Cergy-Pontoise University in December 2014. This workshop was focused on:

• the state of the art in techniques for low permeability measurements
• the relevance of classical laws (Darcy, Klinkenberg, Poiseuille)
• which models are more suitable for fluid flow processes at different scales
